Remembering Brian Eason

The ginning industry in the Southeast lost one of its newer members way too soon. Brian Eason passed away Tuesday, March 1. Brian and his wife Tatum run the Enfield Cotton Gin in Enfield, NC. Although only owning the gin for a couple years Brian and Tatum have been involved with the Association as associate members and regular attendees at our meetings.

Brian will be truly missed. Our prayers go to Tatum and their daughter Ella Walker.

Passing of Leo Phillips

It is with a heavy heard that I must post yet another notification of the passing of one of our members. Leo Phillips co-owner of the Cochran Gin and Oil Mill passed away on Sunday. His funeral will be later today. Leo didn’t come to many meetings but he frequently called with questions on things we published or issues they had dealings with. We had many discussions on the development of the Association and the ‘old times’. He was a character and I will miss our calls.

Please keep his whole family and his brother John in your prayers.

Passing of Robert Earl Godwin

It is never an easy task to notify our membership of the passing of one of our members or affiliates. Last week we lost another one of our number. Robert Earl Godwin of the West Florida Gin in Walnut Hill, FL passed away on November 5 at the age of 76. Robert Earl was a good friend of the association and well loved by those that knew him best. He will be missed.

Robert was laid to rest on Sunday, November 9. A full obituary can be found here: https://www.pettyfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/Robert-Godwin-5/#!/Obituary

Passing of Allen Hudson

It is with deep sadness that we have lost another of our members. Allen Hudson of the Quality Gin in Dunn, North Carolina passed away on Sunday after a very long and brave battle with a lung infection.

Allen had been a supporter of the industry and organization his entire adult life. He had been a director to the association as long as I can remember only taking time off when the term limits required it.

Allen’s obituary can be found HERE. Our deepest sympathies go to Allen’s family. He will be missed by more than they know. Our organization is richer because Allen took to the time to be leader. Services will be tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16.
